During TM4, Sivus had posted up a list of pre-reg'd songs, and to my suprise, Useless Chatting was on the list. As a big fan of Kajiura's music (.hack//SIGN, Noir), this was one of the songs I was anticipating the most. Unfortunately, Useless Chatting was one of the forty songs that appeared on the list that were never sent into Sivus (or slipped through the cracks, whichever, I'm not too sure). So, I decided to DWI it. Yea, it's not much of a epic story of how I found the song, just deal with it.

This was to be my entry for TM5, but certain complications arose (see Urajimena Kikkake, the actual TM5 entry, readme file for the full story), so I scrapped that plan. However, as things go in the strange manner that is my life, I was selected to submit a song in the Best Of TournaMix: Set 2. So, with this being the only full complete file on my harddrive and me not wanting to make another, off to Sivus this went. Oh well, I guess you all got to play it anyway. ^^ Everything exists as it was to be presented to the judges (except for these few lines appended to the readme, which you're reading now ^^), as I created it around August 2003.

The rhythms came rather quickly for the song. I did the steps a bit differently than most of my other DWIs. Instead of laying down steps bar by bar, I got the step timings first, and then used that as a template to lay all the steps down in one big line. I took a heavy inspiration for the steps from my fave cata, "I Feel...", with a bit of "Abyss" and "20, November" thrown in for extra measure. From beginning to end, it took roughly ten hours to lay down all three difficulties.

As always, the song was cut in CoolEdit, written in Notepad, tested with DWI, and padded by myself (let's hear it for playing DWI, NMR-style!).

Re-release Notes:

What did I change on this? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Personally, of all my DWIs created, this ranks #2 of them (I think you should know what #1 is). All considered, it's really funny that I like this DWI so much when it was done in such a short period of time. Trust me when I say that 10 hours is not alot of time for a full set, given my absolute anal retentiveness for steps, and getting them done right, no matter now many times I have to rip them up and rewrite different ones. Oh, the self-price of being one's own worst critic. ^^

Basic: Max Combo = 97/106, 19 Freezes
Pretty average for a Basic set of steps. Has no 8ths, and only a few lengthy 4th chains towards the end.
Trick: Max Combo = 169/188, 34 Freezes
Much more built up than the Basic steps. Follows much of the background percussion and synths, with a few times going with the main synth lines. Has several freeze arrows that lead into short 8th runs. Moderately difficult for a Trick set.
Maniac: Max Combo = 267/269, 0 Freezes
Very off-camber in terms of rhythm, and places the player on their side during many of the patterns, but rarely ever requires looking away from the screen.

Thanks go out to:
dj OmniCrash, for the beautiful artwork. (As usual. He is my photoshop monkey after all.)
Nine3k1, for helping me get my .hack//SIGN subs. (If you cosplay Tsukasa... is that considered cross-play too?)
Freak, for suggesting I play "I Feel..." on our EX. (That's a CATA?!)
SimWolf, for making DWI into what it is today. (And not open-sourcing it.)
Drafthorse, you truly give DWI it's flair with your announcer files. (Your cooler than two cool things tied together.)
NMR, for being one of the best judges. (You were totally hot in the Legend of Art video. Err, you're a... DUDE?! AHH!! Ranma 1/2 all over again!)
STV, honest and to the point with your judging. Just how it should be done. (+Your comments on Love Generation got me this far.)
dj Damian, for truly knowing better than all of us. (Long live the Art Trilogy!)
Zinc, for answering my wish to have a lyric file made. (Thanks man.)
skorpion, he's just one of those guys. (We gonna rock out in TM5?)
the_ditz, for sharing the same appriciation for DWI on foot. (I trust you with DWIing Hayashibara-san's music, that says it all.)
As always, Sivus and crew at DDRei. Without you, this wouldn't be possible. (Bracket System = Best, Idea, EVER.)
And the people, just because. (You rock everyone!)
